Thalia L. McGrady-Payne Obituary (1942 - 2023)

Thalia L. McGrady-Payne, 80, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 8, 2023, at her residence. She was born December 28, 1942, in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late J. Francis Eberle and the late Evelyn M. (Brown) Eberle. Thalia was a 1960 graduate of Butler High School. She was a 1964 graduate of Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing and a 1978 graduate of University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, where she went through the CRNP program. Thalia was on the Board of Directors of Butler Hospital, Butler Meals on Wheels, and the Butler Symphony. She also was on the Board of Directors of the Friend of Saxonburg, South Butler Library. Thalia was an Associate of Operating Room Nurses, and the PA Nurses Association. Thalia is survived by her one son, James W. (Christina) McGrady of Butler, PA; one daughter, Sharon L. (Robert) Johnson of Butler, PA; and one brother, William L. (Barbara) Eberle of Hilton Head Island, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, James R. McGrady, who she married on June 20, 1964, and who passed away on December 25, 2012; and her second husband, First Sgt Retired Homer S. Payne, who she married on December 16, 2018, and who passed away on January 26, 2022. Friends will be received Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Jefferson Street Butler, PA, with Pastor Merry H. Meloy, officiating. Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates. Memorials are suggested to the St. Andrew's United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Jefferson Street, Butler, PA 16001.
