Shirley Marie Hilliard, 90, \nof Butler, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, \nOctober 10, 2021.\n\nBorn June 7, 1931, in Butler, she was the daughter \nof Harry Watterson and Gladys Huselton Watterson.\n\nShirley graduated from Butler High School in 1949. \nShe often shared fond memories about being on the \nhigh school girls basketball team and her time with \nthe Meridian Woodpeckers Fife and Drum Corps. \nShirley worked at Offetts, Troutman's, and \nMontgomery Wards.\n\nShe married David Hilliard on June 18, 1951, and she \nlived in many of the ports where David was stationed \nwhile he was in the Navy. Shirley was blessed to \nenjoy her 70th wedding anniversary and her 90th \nbirthday this past June.\n\nShirley was a member of Meridian Presbyterian \nChurch, where she served as a Deacon and helped in \nvolunteer activities of the church. She enjoyed \nroller skating and dancing and was a charter member \nof the Keystone Squares in Butler. Shirley loved to \ntravel and has been in most every state in the \ncountry. She was active in the scouts when her boys \nwere younger. Shirley loved taking her grandchildren \nto parks.\n\nShirley is survived by her husband, David Hilliard; \nher sons, Randall (Jennifer) Hilliard, Kevin (Susan) \nHilliard; her grandson, Michael Hilliard; her \ngranddaughter, Melissa (Justin Liebler) Hilliard; \nand her great-grandson, Austin Maire. She is also \nsurvived by her sister, Gayle (Willard) Pollock and \nnumerous nieces and nephews. \n\nIn addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in \ndeath by her grandson, Phillip Hilliard, and her \nbrother, George Watterson. \n\nA viewing will be held at Meridian Presbyterian \nChurch, 4150 Highland Ave., Meridian, PA 16001 on \nFriday, October 15, 2021, from 10:00 - 11:00am. A \nservice will immediately follow at the church in the \nsanctuary with Rev. Dr. Steve Franklin, officiating.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made \nto the Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland \nAve., Meridian, PA 16001\n\nArrangements were handled by Thompson-Miller Funeral \nHome, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
