Matthew Lee Smith, 62, of \nHagerstown, Maryland formerly Butler, PA, passed \naway on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the UPMC \nPresbyterian Hospital. \n\nHe was born January 19, 1958 in Bethlehem, \nPennsylvania to the late Joseph W. Smith and the \nlate Shirley Mae Wimmer Smith. \n\nMatthew worked as a System Analyst for High Mark \nBlue Cross and Blue Shield for 11 years. He was a \nveteran of the United States Air Force, as a system \nspecialist. Matthew loved golfing, high performance \ncars, and playing the violin. He was Protestant by \nfaith.\n\nHe is survived by his wife of 26 years, Laura E. \nLawson of Hagerstown, Maryland; one brother, Mark \n(Robin) Treider of York, PA; one sister, Sandy \nJesteadt of East Butler, PA; three nephews, Michael \n(Erica) Treider of York, PA, Andrew Jesteadt of \nProspect, PA, Jordan Lawson of Seattle, WA, and one \nniece, Hannah Lawson of Seattle, WA. \n\nFriends will be received Sunday, July 12, 2020, from \n5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Thompson - Miller Funeral \nHome, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.\n\nFuneral services will be held on Monday, July 13, \n2020, at 10:00 am at the Thompson-Miller Funeral \nHome Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, with \nReverend Robert S. Edmundson, officiating.\n\nBurial will take place in the North Side Cemetery.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made \nto the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, \nPittsburgh, PA 15205.\n\n \n\nIn accordance with the \nCovid-19 guidelines mandated by the state of \nPennsylvania, face masks are required.
