MARY LOU SHELDON\n3 Oct 1931 - 5 Jun 2022\n\nMary Lou Sheldon, 90, passed away peacefully in her \nsleep on June 5, 2022 in Nixa, MO.\n\nShe was born October 3, 1931 in Prospect, \nPennsylvania to the late Harry and Dorothy (Bortmas) \nBloom.\n\nMary Lou graduated nursing school (Butler Memorial \nHospital) in 1953 and remained a conscientious \nlifelong Registered Nurse. She married a "handsome \nyoung red-haired Midshipman" (Bob Sheldon) with whom \nshe lived her dream of raising a family of five \nchildren. She had the opportunity to experience many \nbeautiful parts of the United States as part of a \nmilitary family. She also enjoyed touring the \ncountry with her late-in-life partner (Bob \nMcDonald). In her final year, she loved sharing \nstories about her life's adventures making new \nfast-friends of most everyone she met. She played \ncello in high-school orchestra, earning her Music \nLetter and enjoyed playing piano throughout most of \nher life.\n\nMary Lou is survived by her five children: LCDR \nRobert K. (Patty) Sheldon, USN (Ret.) of Pensacola, \nFL; Kevin J. (Carrie) Sheldon of Jasper, GA; Rory M. \nSheldon of Beaverton, OR; Phillip Lance (Veronica) \nSheldon of Nixa, MO; and Marlinde "Lindy" Slaton of \nParker, CO. \n\nShe was preceded in passing by her companion of \nfifteen years, Robert McDonald; her ex-husband and \nfather of her children, Robert E. Sheldon; her older \nsister, Marcia Walls; her younger sister Harriet \nAmsler; her brother-in-law, Wayne Walls; her \ngranddaughter Ivy Irena Sheldon; and her parents.\n\nMary Lou leaves seven grandchildren and four \ngreat-grandchildren to cherish her memory. Graveside \nmemorial services are being provided by \nThompson-Miller Funeral Home of Butler at Greenlawn \nBurial Estates Mausoleum at 1pm, Thursday 16 June \n2022.
