Mary Louise \n"Mary Lou" Lewis, 88, died peacefully on June 29, \n2019 after a short illness. She was born on July 18, \n1930 in Butler, Pennsylvania to Merle F. McAnallen \nand Hazel Wimer. She lived at 644 New Castle St. \nmost of her adult life until moving to Concordia's \nsenior living in Cabot, PA in 2011. Mary Louise \nMcAnallen married Leon L. Lewis on August 26, 1949 \nand enjoyed 67+ years of love and companionship \nuntil his death in 2017. \n\n\nMary Lou was known for her ready smile, her \ninfectious laugh, her giving nature, and her deep \nlove of family, friends and her church. She served \nas a deacon, elder and member of the Board for a \nnumber of years at the Oaks Hills Christian Church. \nShe also volunteered for the Visiting Nurses Hospice \nServices for over twenty-five years. Mary Lou was \nthe lynchpin of the Lewis-McAnallen clan, always \nkeeping in touch, being there to provide support, \nand becoming a surrogate parent and grandparent to \nmany of her nieces and nephews, and their children \nover the years. She provided comfort, wisdom and \nstability, along with large doses of chocolate, \ncookies, popcorn balls and ice cream. She was the \nquintessential Grandmother to all. \n\n\n\nMary Lou raised three children and helped to raise \nand love eight grandchildren, and eleven great \ngrandchildren. She was a Devoted Daughter and \nSister, Loving Wife, Treasured Mother, Beloved \nGrandmother, Favorite Aunt, and Best Friend.\n\n\nMary Lou is survived by son Lesley Lewis and wife \nNancy Ritter Lewis of Lexington KY; daughter, Vicki \nLewis Eicher and husband Don of Downingtown, PA; and \nson Lynn Lewis and wife Jodi Nace Lewis of Chardon, \nOH. Mary Lou has eight grandchildren: Bryan Lewis, \nGeoffrey Lewis, Evan Lewis, Kristin Ramsey, Beth \nSchaffer, Jodie Winkler, Michael Lewis and Stephen \nLewis, eleven great-grandchildren, and many \ncherished nieces and nephews. \n\n\nIn addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in \ndeath by her husband, Leon L. Lewis, their son, \nBryan Lee Lewis, and her four brothers, Lawrence \nMcAnallen, Heyward McAnallen, William McAnallen and \nVictor McAnallen. \n\n\nFamily and friends will be received Saturday, July \n20, 2017 from 10:00AM until time of service at 12:00 \nnoon at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 \nEast North Street, Butler PA., with the Reverend Ty \nSabella, officiating.\n\n\nPrivate burial will take place later in the Rose \nHill Cemetery.\n\n\nIn lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial \ncontributions may be made to the Visiting Nurses \nAssociation, Western PA, Hospice Program; 154 \nHindman Rd., Butler, PA 16001.
