Marilyn K. Stephenson, 88, \nof Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 20, \n2021, at the Butler Memorial Hospital. \n\nShe was born November 18, 1932, in Butler, \nPennsylvania to the late Harold W. Campbell and the \nlate M. Katharine Kuhn. \n\nFrom age 8, when Marilyn started taking piano \nlessons, her life was full of music. She accompanied \nthe grade school orchestra and many other groups \nwhen in high school. There she also became familiar \nwith the organ by taking lessons at Butler High \nSchool. She was a member of the Stephen Foster \nJunior Music Club and Tuesday Musical Club of \nButler. As a member of the Pennsylvania Federation \nof Music Clubs, she was assigned to represent that \nbody on the VAVS committee at the Butler VA Medical \nCenter. She participated with other music club \nmembers in providing entertainment for the veterans \nthere. In 1969, she began working with chaplaincy \nprograms one of the organists for the Sunday \nServices at the Center. She faithfully played in the \nAlzheimer's Unit at the VA weekly for many years, as \nwell. She acted as organist in various churches, \nwith Thompson Miller, and over the years, she \naccompanied numerous soloists and groups in the \nButler Area.\n\nMarilyn was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, \nButler Chapter 45 (Past Matron), Order of Rainbow \nfor Girls (Grand Cross of Color), United Commercial \nTravelers of America (Officer - Local and State \nLevels, Past Grand Counselor).\n\nMarilyn will be deeply missed and cherished by her \ndaughter, Paula Baptiste Floyd (Carl), with whom she \nmade her home over the past four years, her \ngrandchildren Nicholas S. Baptiste, Fontine M. \nPedersen (Karl), Logan M. Floyd, and her beautiful \ngreat-granddaughter, Rakel. Her legacy of faith, \nlove and devotion to family and friends, and gift of \nmusic live on through them.\n\nIn addition to her parents, she was preceded in \ndeath by her husband, Eugene F. Stephenson, who she \nmarried on June 26, 1954, and who passed on May 12, \n1999, and an infant son.\n\nFriends will be received Sunday, August 22, 2021, \n2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at \nThompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North \nStreet Butler, PA.\n\nButler Chapter 45 Order of Eastern Star will conduct \nritualistic service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August \n22, 2021, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 \nEast North Street, Butler, PA 16001.\n\nFuneral services will be held on Monday, August 23, \n2021, 1:00 pm at the Christ Community United \nMethodist Church, 205 N Duffy Road Butler, PA, with \nRev. Anette Gerber, officiating.\n\nBurial will take place in the Concord Cemetery.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made \nto Christ Community United Methodist Church - Fund \nfor Maintenance of Musical Instruments, 205 N. Duffy \nRd., Butler, PA 16001.
