Marcia Mitchell Hill, 74 \npassed on August 21 in Tucson, Arizona. \n\nMarcia Ann Mitchell was born on January 7, 1947 in \nNatrona Heights, Pennsylvania to William Vincent \nMitchell (d. 2005) and Valerie Joan Mitchell (d. \n2012). \n\nA 1964 graduate of Har-Brack High School, Marcia \nreceived a bachelor's degree from Clarion University \nand a master's degree in education from the \nUniversity of Pittsburgh in 1974.\n\nOn January 23, 1971, Marcia married Charles Richard \nHill (d. 1993) at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church \nin Natrona Heights, PA. Marcia and Charles had one \nchild, Benjamin Mitchell Hill, who was born on \nJanuary 13, 1976 in Butler, PA. \n\nAfter beginning her teaching career in the Deer \nLakes and Freeport School Districts, Marcia taught \nin the Butler Area School District for twenty years \nuntil her retirement in 1999. Teaching mostly \nadvanced economics, Marcia's sharp intellect and \nrobust personality inspired hundreds of high school \nstudents to pursue their dreams through higher \neducation. \n\nUpon retiring, Marcia moved to Tucson, Arizona. A \nprolific crafter, Marcia embarked on an active \nretirement of: needlepoint; sewing; and (fitting for \nArizona) beading. On autumnal Sundays, Marcia \nrelaxed in her favorite chair watching the Steelers \nin the early game and the Cardinals in the afternoon \ngame. What Marcia enjoyed most, however, was \nspending time with her beloved grandson, Christopher \nCoddington-Hill \n\nMarcia is survived by her son and his family: \nBenjamin Hill; Alicia DeWitt; and Christopher \nCoddington-Hill. Marcia also is survived by two \nsiblings: Carole Fries of Chambersburg, PA and Keith \nMitchell, Cranberry, PA. \n\nReuniting with Charles, Marcia will be entombed at \nthe Calvary Mausoleum in Butler, PA. \n\nFamily, friends and former students are invited to \ncelebrate Marcia Hill's life from 5pm to 8pm on \nFriday, October 8 at The Chop Shop, Butler PA.
