Joseph John, "Joe", Meyer, 88, \nof Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 4, \n2022, at the Butler Memorial Hospital. \n\nHe was born August 6, 1933, in New Castle, \nPennsylvania to the late Joseph W. Meyer and the \nlate Rose Meyer. \n\nJoe graduated from New Castle Area High School in \nthe Class of 1951. He worked as an industrial \nengineer at Castle Rubber in East Butler, PA. Joe \nwas drafted shortly after he and Betty were married \nand served in Germany in the Army during the Korean \nWar. He was a member of the VFW. Joe enjoyed fishing \nand bowling. His favorite destination and vacation \nspot was Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Joe was an avid "500" \ncard player.\n\nHe is survived by one son, Timothy L. (Kathy A.) \nMeyer of Ormond Beach, FL; one daughter, Cheryl A. \n(Gary) Shields of Prospect, PA; and one grandchild, \nAutumn D. Meyer of Erie, PA. \n\nIn addition to his parents, he was preceded in death \nby his wife Betty Cearfoss Meyer whom he married on \nApril 6, 1953, and who passed away on May 26, 2018; \none daughter Jody E. Meyer; and one sister, Rosemary \nShaffer.\n\nBurial will take place in the Calvary Cemetery.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made \nto the Community Cat Network, c/o C.
