Joseph John "Joe" Meyer Obituary (1933 - 2022)

Joseph John, "Joe", Meyer, 88, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 4, 2022, at the Butler Memorial Hospital. He was born August 6, 1933, in New Castle, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph W. Meyer and the late Rose Meyer. Joe graduated from New Castle Area High School in the Class of 1951. He worked as an industrial engineer at Castle Rubber in East Butler, PA. Joe was drafted shortly after he and Betty were married and served in Germany in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW. Joe enjoyed fishing and bowling. His favorite destination and vacation spot was Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Joe was an avid "500" card player. He is survived by one son, Timothy L. (Kathy A.) Meyer of Ormond Beach, FL; one daughter, Cheryl A. (Gary) Shields of Prospect, PA; and one grandchild, Autumn D. Meyer of Erie, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Cearfoss Meyer whom he married on April 6, 1953, and who passed away on May 26, 2018; one daughter Jody E. Meyer; and one sister, Rosemary Shaffer. Burial will take place in the Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community Cat Network, c/o C.
