John Arthur "Jack" Guthrie, \n89 of Butler, PA and formerly of Boardman Ohio, \npassed away peacefully on Friday April 26, 2019 at \nSunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center \nsurrounded by his family.\n\nBorn in Brady's Bend, PA on November 4, 1929; he was \nthe son of the late James A. Guthrie and Josephine \nSlaugenhaupt Guthrie. \n\nJohn was a avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He was a \nmember of the Boardman Baptist Church where he \nserved as an usher and enjoyed greeting people.\n\nHe is survived by his second wife Helen Guthrie of \nBoardman, OH whom he had met through a mutual \nmatchmaking friend and whom he married in 2004, his \ndaughter Jane West and her husband Richard of \nButler, PA; his grandson Timothy Emery and his \nfiance Nicole Meier of Pittsburgh, PA, two step \nsons, Paul Holden and his wife Kathy of Lowellville, \nOH and John Holden and his wife Jerrie of Boardman, \nOH and their families, three sisters Oma Lynch, \nMarilyn Cumberland and her husband Jim, Eileen Hovis \nand her husband Lon, and numerous nieces, nephews, \nfriends, and others whom were touched by his spirit.\n\n\nHe was preceded in death by his first wife Alma \nGuthrie whom he married on May 26, 1954 who passed \naway on May 30, 2001, also by one sister Maxine \nSchultz and one brother Daryl Guthrie.\n\nFriends will be received Tuesday, April 30, 2019 \nfrom 12:00 (noon) to 4:00 p.m. at Thompson-Miller \nFuneral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, \nPA 16001.\n\nFuneral services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, \n2019 at 12:00 (noon) at the Thompson-Miller Funeral \nHome, 124 East North Street, Butler, PA with Rev. \nPete Sapp of Trinity Church of Brady's Bend, \nofficiating. \n\nBurial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery in \nChicora, PA.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to \nbe made to the American Alzheimer's Association of \nGreater PA, Pittsburgh Office, 100 Liberty Avenue \nSte.1, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
