It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John P. Fillo, a truly adventurous and compassionate soul, on May 24th, 2023. Born on August 12th, 1951, in Queens, New York, John spent his life pursuing his passions and creating a lasting impact on those he encountered. John was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend residing in Butler, Pennsylvania with his loving wife.\n\nJohn's professional life was marked by his commitment to E H & S. After graduating from Brooklyn Tech in 1969, he went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Pratt Institute of New York and later earned a Master's Degree and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon. His career included his years with P.W.C., Trinity Consultants, and A.N.A.B. He served as a past president of PA Resources Council as well as board service for 15 years. Despite his numerous academic accomplishments, John's caring and selfless nature shone brightest in his personal life. He was an avid fly fisherman and golfer, and he enjoyed going to the gym, staying active, playing the trumpet, and indulging in wine collecting in the Finger Lakes.\n\nJohn leaves behind his loving wife, Kathleen Fillo, whom he married on October 14th, 2005, and his children, Matthew Fillo, Alexander Fillo, Jennifer (Brent Fiore) Fillo, and step-son Nicholas (Jessica) Carini. He will also be lovingly remembered by his granddaughters, Ruby Fillo and Sydney Fiore, sister Judy Johnston, nephew Frank Mauro Jr.; as well as his very cherished friends, Jack and Fran Mesagno.
