Joanne Florence Eakin Pontius, \n80, formerly of Butler passed away Wednesday July \n17, 2019 in Raleigh, NC.\n\n\nShe was born in Beaver, PA on October 3, 1938. \nJoanne was the Daughter of the late Charles Eakin \nand Thelma Cranmer Eakin Magill. Joanne was married \nto William Pontius for 50 years, who proceeded her \nin death in 2018. She was also proceeded in death by \nher Sister Marilyn Hardy.\n\n\nShe was a Graduate of Butler High School in 1956 and \na Graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of \nNursing in 1960. She worked as a RN at Presbyterian \nHospital and Butler Hospital.\n\n\nJoanne's greatest love was for her family and \nfriends. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi \nSorority for over 50 years. She enjoyed attending \nchurch, playing bridge, volunteering and eating out \nwith friends.\n\n\nShe is survived by her Son, Douglas and his wife \nJulie Pontius, of Erie PA; her Daughter Rebecca \n"Becky" Karidis, of Wake Forest, NC; her beloved \nGrandchildren Andrei and Natalia Karidis; her Sister \nAlice (James) Taylor; and 5 Nieces and 2 Nephews and \nmany Grandnieces and nephews.\n\n\nFamily and friends will be received Tuesday, July \n23, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service \nat 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Thompson - Miller Funeral \nHome, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA.
