James "Jim" \nR. Swidzinski, 76, of Butler, passed peacefully on \nSunday, August 8, 2021, in his home surrounded by \nhis loving family. \nBorn \nFebruary 2, 1945, in Butler, he was the son of late \nAdam and Betty (Kirk) Swidzinski. \nJim was a \n1967 graduate of Slippery Rock College and became an \nelementary school teacher for 35 years with the \nButler Area School District. \nHe was a \nmember of Meridian Presbyterian Church in Butler.\nHe loved camping, hunting, \nfishing, golfing, gambling, watching football, and \nplaying 500 bid with his family. He was also a \nlifetime member of the Butler Elks. Since his \nretirement, he and his wife, Barb, have spent their \nwinters at their home in Melbourne Beach, Florida. \nHe enjoyed when his family joined them there for \nsummer vacations every year. \nLeft to \ncherish his memory is his wife of 54 years, Barbara \n(Shannon) Swidzinski, with whom he married on June \n17, 1967.\nHe is also survived by his \ndaughters Stacy (Michael) Ellis and Holly (Nate) \nSwidzinski; seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Laycia), \nAmanda, Stephen, and Alayna Ellis and Jacqueline, \nCortney and Natalie Jurecko; two siblings, Elaine \nWestfall and Dan (Cyndi) Swidzinski; brother in-law, \nWalt Cooper; and several nieces and nephews; as well \nas a large extended family.\nIn addition to his parents, he \nwas preceded in death by his siblings, Jean Cooper \nand Bob Swidzinski.\nVisitation will be held on \nThursday, August 12th from 5:00PM until the time of \nService at 7:00PM at the Thompson-Miller Funeral \nHome, 124 East North Street, Butler \nIn lieu of \nflowers, memorial donations may be made to the \nAmerican Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr, Pittsburgh, \nPA 15205.\nJim will be greatly missed, and \nour fond memories will sustain us.
