G. Earl \nSadlon, 95, of 111 Elise Dr, Butler, passed away on \nFriday, January 13, 2023, under the care of \nConcordia at Villa St. Joseph in Baden, PA.\n\n\n He \nwas born March 18, 1927, the son of the late Gustave \nE. and Marian (Clupper) Sadlon.\n\n\n Earl \nwas a graduate of Butler High School and attended \nCarnegie Institute of Technology (Carnegie Mellon) \nin Pittsburgh. \n\n\n He \nretired from Alltel, Inc, Kittanning, PA, as Public \nand Community Relations Coordinator in 1993. \n Prior to his position with Alltel, he was \nVice President and General Manager of radio station \nWACB Kittanning and had been employed by WBUT as an \nannouncer and news director before his move to \nKittanning.\n\n\n Earl \nwas a two term president of the Kittanning Chamber \nof Commerce, president of the Middle Armstrong \nCounty Development Organization (MACADO), member of \nthe Lenape Technical and Vocational Advisory \nCommittee, board member of the Pennsylvania \nAssociation of Broadcasters, chairperson of the West \nHills Liaison Committee, chairperson of Operation \nLets Improve For Tomorrow (LIFT), board member of \nthe Salvation Army, board member of the United Way, \nboard member of the American Field Services (AFS) in \nButler and Knoch High Schools, charter member of the \nKittanning Area Midget Football Team and a past \nmember of the Rotary and Elks.\n\n\n He \nwas a member of SPEBSQSA (Barbershoppers) and sang \nbass with the Bon Aires Quartet.\n\n\n He \nserved in the Marine Corps during WWII, and after \nhis retirement, was a volunteer in the Emergency \nDepartment at the Butler Health Center.\n\n\nHe was \na member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Butler, and \nserved on the Church Council, was a volunteer on the \nProperty Committee, sang in the church choir and \nserved as communion assistant and usher.\n\n\n Surviving \nis his son; Errol (Joyce) Sadlon of Freedom, PA, his \ndaughter; Sharon (Brian) George of Brunswick, GA, \nthree grandchildren; Michael Sadlon, Christopher \nKauffman and Eric Kauffman and two \ngreat-grandchildren; Callen and Kayla Kauffman.\n\n\n In \naddition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death \nby his wife; Virginia "Ginny" (Bartsch) Sadlon, whom \nhe married in June of 1945, and who passed away on \nOctober 1, 2010, and his great granddaughter; Avery \nKauffman.\n\n\n All \nare invited to attend a visitation for Earl on \nSaturday, February 4, 2023, from 1-3 PM at \nThompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North \nSt., Butler, PA 16001. \n A funeral service will immediately follow \nat 3:00 PM with Pastor Joel Benson of Trinity \nLutheran Church officiating.\n\n\n Interment \nwill be made in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
