Dorothy \n"Miss Dorfie", M. Shakley, 94, of Butler passed away \non February 21, 2020 at Newhaven Court at Clearview, \nwhere she had been residing for the past year. She \nwas 94 years old.\n\nBefore that she lived at her home on Evans City Road \nfor over 65 years. She was a lifelong resident of \nButler and loved serving in her community. Born \nMarch 28, 1925, in Butler, PA, she was the daughter \nof the late Edwin and Margret Shodd Voland. \n\nDorothy loved taking care of her home and together \nwith her husband raised two daughters. She loved \nchildren and devoted her life to so many. In her \nlifetime, she found two jobs that served that need. \nFirst, she worked as a lunchroom monitor at \nNorthwest School for over 25 years. After the death \nof her husband, she felt the need to be with \nchildren again, so she began working at Kiddie City \nDay Care. She loved talking and reading stories to \nall the children. They loved her too and she became \nknown as "Miss Dorfie". She loved working with these \nyoung children, and they provided her with many \nwonderful memories. \n\nDorothy was also very active with the Greenwood \nRobinettes Drum and Baton Corp. She held many \npositions throughout the 30 years she was affiliated \nwith the corp. She often said, " It just got in your \nblood and I couldn't leave." Dorothy also enjoyed \nbeing a brownie leader when her girls were young. \nShe played cards with her high school friends for \nover 60 years.\n\nFrom birth, she was a lifetime member of St. Mark's \nEvangelical Lutheran Church in Butler. She \nvolunteered and was involved in all aspects of \nchurch life. Dorothy taught Sunday School for over \n50 years and participated in Junior Lutherans as \nwell as Bible School.\n\nShe is survived by two daughters, Cindy Musko and \nher husband, Dan, of Butler, PA and Candace \nDellostretto of Cary, NC; five grandsons, Ryan \nMorton and his wife, Cindy, of Butler, Jordan \nDellostretto and his wife, Nikki, of Marblehead, MA, \nTaylor Dellostretto and his wife, Erica, of Holly \nSpring, NC, Devin Dellostretto and his wife, Emily, \nof Durham, NC, and Austin Dellostretto of Raleigh, \nNC; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Brynn, and Noah \nMorton, Fiona Dellostretto, and Carter Dellostretto; \none sister, Pearl McNees of Parma, OH; and numerous \nextended family members. \n\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. \nShakley, who passed away November 9, 1989.\n\nVisitation will be received Sunday, March 1st, from \n2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a memorial service \nimmediately following at 4:00 p.m. at Thompson - \nMiller Funeral Home, Inc. 124 East North Street, \nButler, PA 16001 with Pastor James Neal, S.T.S. of \nSt. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made \nto donor's favorite charity.
