Caroline A. "Connie" Myers Bayless Obituary (1929

Caroline A. "Connie" Myers Bayless went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 10, 2018 after a long and courageous battle against Pulmonary Fibrosis. She passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving children. She was born April 1, 1929 in Harwick, Pennsylvania to the late William R. Myers and the late Elsie C. Rassman Myers. Connie worked in food service for many years in various capacities including restaurant owner, chef, kitchen manager, and Food Service Supervisor for the Department of Corrections in Virginia in Nottoway Prison. She retired in 1991 and returned to the Butler area to be near her family. Connie was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and homemade noodles and chicken noodle soup. Connie's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She made many prize winning quilts after her retirement. Prior to her illness, she loved to play Bingo. She is survived by her three children, Karen L. Bayless Sychak of Butler, PA, Gerald A. (Karen) Bayless of Butler, PA, and Clarissa Bayless of FL; eleven grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; six great- great- grandchildren; and three sisters, Mildred Moren of Butler, PA, Elsie (Ray) Houck of FL, and Wilma Dufford of Evans City, PA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Daniel "Dan" Bayless who passed away on January 26, 1991; one daughter, Dana J. Bayless Opperman; one grandson, Carl Opperman; five brothers; and three sisters. Friends will be received Thursday, December 13, 2018, 2 - 4 6 - 8 pm at Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018, 2:00 pm at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, with Pastor Barbara Stoehr of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Private Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to First United Methodist Church, First Church Missions, 200 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001. We would especially like to thank the VNA Hospice for making it possible for us to care for Mom in the comfort of her home where she was surrounded by her loving family and her precious memories.
