Carol E. (Whitmire) Namendorf, 79, of Butler, PA \npassed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at her \nhome surrounded by her loving family.\n\nShe was born September 26, 1942, in Butler, PA to \nthe late Robert Lester and Alletta E. "Betty" \n(James) Whitmire.\n\nMs. Namendorf received a Bachelor of Sacred Music \ndegree from Northeastern Bible College in Essex \nFells, NJ, where she also worked as an Academic \nSecretary for 4 years. Carol enjoyed most kinds of \nmusic, and both played and taught accordion and \npiano. Music was her passion. For over 20 years, she \nsang in the Worship Choir and served the Lord in \nvarious capacities at St. Paul's Presbyterian \nChurch, Laurel Springs, NJ.\n\nCarol worked tirelessly with the Arthritis \nFoundation, New Jersey Chapter for 28 years, serving \nas Volunteer Coordinator, Support Group Leader, \nSpeakers Bureau Coordinator, Fundraising Assistant \nand many other titles. The volunteers affectionately \ncalled her "Elf Carol" for her work on the letters \nfrom Santa Project. The National Arthritis \nFoundation in Atlanta, GA recognized Carol with \nseveral awards and accolades for all of her support \nand work over the past 35 years.\n\nShe collected family recipes and compiled a Family \nFavorites Cookbook for her family members. Carol \nalso compiled and printed cookbooks for fundraising \npurposes for non-profits and churches; the most \nrecent being to benefit the food pantry at Mt. \nChestnut Presbyterian Church, Butler, PA, where she \nwas a member.\n\nCarol is survived by her 3 sisters: Pat Whitmire, \nMary Ann (Russ Jr.) Yockey and Lois J. (John) \nSwigart, all of Butler; 3 brothers: David (Denise) \nWhitmire of Karns City, Richard (Gloria) Whitmire of \nMeadville and George "Harley" (Marie) Whitmire of \nCarney, MI, and numerous nieces, nephews, and \ncousins. A heart-felt thank you is extended to her \nsister, Pat, who lovingly and unselfishly cared for \nCarol over the past nine years. Thank you, Pat!\n\nAll are invited to attend a visitation for Carol on \nSunday, September 25, 2022, from 2-5 PM at \nThompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. 124 E. North St., \nButler, PA 16001. A memorial service will be held on \nMonday, September 26, 2022, at 4:30 PM at Mt. \nChestnut Presbyterian Church 727 W. Old Rt. 422, \nButler, PA 16001 with the Rev. Ron Schermerhorn, \nofficiating.\n\nInterment will take place at Butler Co.
